Infant Abdominal Disease in the Field of General Surgery


Abstract
Congenital hypertropic pyloric stenosis and Intussusception are the most important and frequent surgical disease in the acute abdominal disease of infancy and childhood.
In Inchon Provincial Hospital, I had seen three (3) cases of congenital hypertropic pyloric stenosis and twenty-two (22) cases of intussusception and performed operation for these disease in the last one year (Jan. ¢¥67 to Dec. ¢¥67). Incidence of male was mareedly higher than female and the ratio was 17 to 5.
Monthly distribution was high in spring time and in an age distribution fifteen cases (15) were observed under the twelve 912) months of age in the total twenty-two (22) cases.
By the feeding type, 20 cases were observed in the maternal breast feeding baby.
Abdominal mass was palpated about 63.6%
The most common type of intussusception was Ileocecal type, it was 50%, but Cecocecal, Colo-colic and 2 cases of double from(IleoIleocecal) also observed.
The operative mortality was about 22% (5 cases in the total 22 cases). These expired 5 cases were changed into gangrene.
